Staying up to date

Automatic updates arrive with the first signed release.

Updates are checked once a day, downloaded in the background and swapped in when you quit — and every one is verified against Sweep's own signing key before it is installed, so a tampered download is refused rather than run. Both the daily check and the background install are switches in Settings for anyone who would rather decide each time. Homebrew installs update in place too; the cask declares it, so brew upgrade and the in-app updater never fight over the same app.

This is a pre-release build and isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS 15 and later say it "could not verify Sweep is free of malware" and offer only Move to Trash. That's about the missing notarization, not about anything found in the app. Drag Sweep to Applications, then:

  1. Double-click Sweep, let it be blocked, and press Done — not Move to Trash.
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to Security.
  3. Press Open Anyway on the line about Sweep, then open it again.

Prefer the Terminal? This does the same thing in one step:
